Server move in progress
We recently started moving both Loforo and the media host to a setup that should allow us to scale up dynamically (instead of manually provisioning new servers as needed).
This cluster based setup, when complete, should be faster and more resilient that it was before (but right now, there are still slowdowns/latency issues that we're investigating).
We expect this to take another few days to find/fix the various issues.

That's great, but since the pornography/spam issue never got resolved a lot of the soup.io power users that migrated here left already. I'm myself currently looking into means of backing up/downloading my blogs for migrating elsewhere.
that is indeed a thought that i'm playing with as well. it can't be that hard to filter those spammers out, since they repost the same shit over and over again.
Frequent slowdowns and image loading problems are annoying but some times server error pages are also showing blank w/o any particular reason which is ever more annoying, happened to me bunch of times when using Firefox Beta on mobile.
@juozaspo Yep, it's being worked on. There's still some bottlenecks that we're locating and working on fixing.
Please do something about those spammers
This is great news!
After that please expand the API with GET posts and crack down on the CSAM/underage/jailbait photos.
On one hand this is nice, on the other, we've been complaining about the pedos & porn spammers cleanup for years now mate and you just completely ignore the topic, that is discouraging to say the least.
We've actually deleted numerous sites containing spam and inappropriate content, and literally 10s of thousands of posts.
Edit: just checked and its around 1500 sites deleted and over 60 thousand posts deleted. This is a manual cleanup done at least weekly.
The only way to do this more thoroughly is to create new tools to allow select users to moderate content at more frequent intervals but the need to scale the site has taken priority.
Also, note that this is not some VC backed operation - this site generates literally 0 revenue and I have intentionally not added ads or anything despite the significant monthly cost of running it.
The only developer is me. It will be done but like I said in this post, its being moved to a system that will not require me to do so much work to add server capacity/scaling. Once this is done, I can focus on the moderation aspect.
Big up for your work. Thanks a lot!
That is awesome to hear and thank you for doing that.
@blog Well, the current situation seems to be quite dire, the amount of blatant pornography just makes the site unusable (and at times just downright illegal to use) for everyone else. Since Loforo seems to be more of a passion project how about just open sourcing the code, I'm sure there are enough tech affine users in this community to quickly build a suite of moderation tools that then can be assigned to trusted users. That would significantly cut down the workload.
